Sabres @ Senators: 11/16/22 – Game Reactions/Recap

Tonight the Sabres were on a back to back in Ottawa after a home loss to the Canucks last night and lost again tonight, 4-1 at the hands of the Senators to make it a seven game losing streak.

Once again, just like in yesterday’s game we came out sloppy to start the game. The Sabres were giving up odd man rushes too many times early and the defense just looked disjointed and poor again. 9:45 into the game, Austin Watson got the Senators on the board first with the only goal of the period and we went into intermission down 1-0.

In the second, the Sabres answered back to tie up the game 6:41 into the period as none other than Tage Thompson ripped a clapper from the top of the left circle on a one timer pass from Dahlin on the power play, looking very reminiscent of those clap bombs that Ovi has built a career off of. Great to see and I love how Tage is playing even in losses so far this season but the tie game didn’t last too long. The Sens answered with a power play goal on their own that would turn out to be a game winner with Sens captain Brady Tkachuk scoring just 3:16 later to give Ottawa a lead once again that they’d sit on the rest of the game.

14:21 into the third, Alex DeBrincat scored an insurance goal for the Senators and they capped off the game with an empty net goal from Tim Stutzle with 41 seconds left to ice it for a 4-1 Sabres loss.

FINAL: Sabres 1, Senators 4

Another shitty loss. This time the offense couldn’t score and we were once again shitty defensively, getting outshot 40-30 in the losing effort

At least we get two nights off before we go to Toronto on Saturday.

Go Sabres.
