I won my only bet last night on the NHL with the Jets’ four-goal third period getting them a 4-2 win in regulation over the Blues, to cash 1.5 units. Tonight we have just a three-game slate. Let’s get our third winning night in a row!
Hurricanes vs. Kings (7:00)
This should be a really fun cross conference game tonight. The Hurricanes lead the Metro Division with a 32-9-8 record and are 16-5-2 at home this season. Coming off a huge 4-1 win over the NHL leading Bruins on Sunday evening, they’re on a five game winning streak with a 7-0-1 record in their last eight games. Carolina’s been fantastic on both ends of the ice, especailly defensively. The Kings have been good too, tied in points with Vegas in second place in the tight top of the Pacific Division and are just a point behind Seattle. They’re coming off a 5-2 loss in Tampa that ended their three game winning streak. Their offense has been pretty good this season but they’ve struggled on the back end quite a bit at times. The Canes won the first game between these teams this season with a 4-2 win in LA on December 3rd. I’d expect they win at home again tonight and will take them in regulation for a unit.
Blue Jackets vs. Capitals (7:00)
I broke this game down in depth with my article on StatSalt. As I said in that article, I really like the Caps to get a win here on the road and bounce back from their 5-1 loss in Toronto on Sunday. I’ll take the Caps in regulation for 1.5 units along with half a unit each on the Blue Jackets team total under 2.5 in regulation and the under on the game.
Canadiens vs. Senators (7:00)
Tonight we have the third matchup of the season between the two worst teams in the Atlantic Division. This is the second game in a row between these teams for the second half of a home and home. In Ottawa on Saturday, the Sens got an easy 5-0 shutout win and they won previously this season with a 3-2 win on December 14th at home. The Habs are now on a three game losing streak to drop to 20-26-4 on the season and have been horrible on both ends of the ice. The Senators are on a three game winning streak improving to 23-23-3. Ottawa’s struggled on both ends of the ice, but are significantly better than the Canadiens have been. I like the Sens to get their third game of the season against the Montreal. I feel like the moneyline is too expensive for their value at -190 on the road, but I’ll take Ottawa in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the under but not enough to actually bet it.
