NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 5/6/23

I only had one small play last night in the NHL on the under in the Canes/Devils game, which lost me 0.68 units. Oh well. Tonight we have just one game again, between the Golden Knights and the Oilers. Let’s crush it!

Game 2: Golden Knights vs. Oilers (7:00)

This series is going to be fucking incredible. In Game 1 in the fortress on Wednesday night, Vegas got a huge 6-4 win to start off the series. The Knights outshot the Oilers 34-27 but for the game Edmonton slightly outplayed Vegas by an expected goal rate of 3.22-3.1. Vegas absolutely dominated 5 on 5 play, and although by the advanced statistics it was only by an expected goal rate of 2.11-1.64, they were the way better team. The Knights took all the momentum out of the Oilers offense, answering back from two of Edmonton’s goals within a minute. The Oilers got held without a shot for 12 minutes at one point, but they still scored four goals, despite their bottom 9 forwards only having just 12 combined shots all game with Leon Draisaitl scoring all four of Edmonton’s goals. This was the first series that I didn’t make any picks going into it on a side, and after seeing how much Vegas dominated in 5 on 5 play, I expect them to win the series in six or seven games (and still love my series props for it to go at least over 5.5 games). I’d lean the Golden Knights win Game 2 tonight again at home, but not enough to bet on it. The over hit easily with five goals in the first period of Game 1 and ten total goals, no sweat whatsoever. I’ll go right back to the over tonight for 1.5 units. If it hits with ease again in Game 2, I’m going to start looking at ladders on the overs of this series.
