I had a good night on the NHL yesterday, going 4-4 to win 1.71 units with the Golden Knights crushing the Sharks to finish the night. Let’s stack it up with today’s big twelve game slate!
Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets (1:00)
Detroit let me down in their 3-2 overtime loss to the Habs on Thursday night. I like them to start the day with a win at home against the struggling Blue Jackets. They dominated the first game between these teams in Columbus on October 16th and I like them to win this one just as easily. I’ll take the Red Wings for a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.
Jets vs. Stars (3:00)
This should be a decent matchup in the Central. I do think the Stars are the much better team here though and expect a win from them on the road. The price is cheaper than I expected and I’ll take Dallas for a unit. I’d slightly lean the over but definitely not enough to bet on it.
Maple Leafs vs. Canucks (7:00)
This should be an awesome cross-conference matchup tonight. I’d slightly lean the Canucks pull off the win on the road here in Toronto to extend their win streak with the Leafs on the second half of a back-to-back after their shootout win against Calgary last night (winner for me that turned into way more of a sweat than it should’ve), but not enough to bet on it. I do like the over quite a bit here though and I’ll take it for a unit.
Canadiens vs. Bruins (7:00)
Huge mismatch in the Atlantic here. I expect an easy win for the Bruins here and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Senators vs. Flames (7:00)
The Flames are a pretty bad team this year and they can’t blame Darryl Sutter for it anymore. After their 5-4 shootout loss to the Leafs last night (winner for me), Nikita Zadorov requested trade from Calgary. I don’t think Ottawa’s all that great of a team either, but I expect them to win at home tonight. I’ll take the Sens for half a unit along with the over for half a unit.
Lightning vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
The Lightning, even without Vasilevskiy to start the season, have overachieved from where I expected them to be. The Hurricanes have been solid, but haven’t quite been as good as I expected them to be. Going into the year I thought they’d be the easy pick to win the East. In the first game between these teams this season, the Bolts pulled off a surprising 3-0 win at home on October 24th. I’d slightly lean the Hurricanes answer back with a win on the road tonight, but with them on the second half of a back to back after their 5-2 loss to the Panthers last night (loss for me), I’ll stay off the side here. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet on that either, so I’ll stay off this game completely.
Penguins vs. Sabres (7:30)
Last night the Sabres got a good 3-2 win on the back of Devon Levi’s great performance in goal in a game that on paper they were outplayed in. The Penguins have picked it up after their slow start to the season, coming into today’s game on a three game win streak as they return home from their California road trip. With my Sabres on the second half of a back-to-back on the road, I’d expect a Pens win here and I’ll lay the juice on them for half a unit. I also like the over at 6.5 (not quite as much at 7), which I’ll take for half a unit as well.
Islanders vs. Capitals (7:30)
This is a pretty boring Central Division matchup. In the first game between these teams this year on November 2nd, the Isles won in a 3-0 shutout on the road in DC. I’d slightly lean the Isles win here at home with the Caps in the second half of a back-to-back, coming off a 4-2 win in Jersey last night (loss for me), but I don’t think the Islanders are worth the -180ish price. I’d lean the under too, but with the Isles trending over recently and the added fatigue of Washington having played last night, I’ll skip this game completely.
Predators vs. Coyotes (8:00)
This is a pretty bad game in the Central between two mid-tier teams that both aren’t making the playoffs this year. I’d slightly lean the Preds win at home but not enough to bet it. I’m kind of surprised that the total on this game is only 5.5 though, and I’ll take the over for half a unit.
Avalanche vs. Blues (9:00)
Huge mismatch here in the Central. When these teams played a week and a half ago on November 1st, the Avs won 4-1 at home and I’m expecting a pretty similar result tonight. I’ll take the Avalanche in regulation for a unit. I considered their team total too, but I’ll just roll with the regulation line.
Kraken vs. Oilers (10:00)
I know the Blues won the Stanley Cup after being the last place team in the NHL in January in 2019, but I don’t see that happening for the Oilers after they just lost to the fucking Sharks on Thursday night. Edmonton’s broken. This team’s bad. Their offense isn’t clicking and you have to really feel bad for McDavid and Draisaitl at this point and their defense and goaltending has been dog shit. I don’t think the Kraken are all that great, but I don’t think the Oil should be a favorite in any road game, even with the two best players in the world. I’ll take Seattle for half a unit.
Kings vs. Flyers (10:30)
I love the Kings in this spot and they’re a really good team this season. LA’s coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Pens on Thursday night that ended their win streak while the Flyers, who aren’t great, are coming off a surprising 6-3 win in Anaheim last night. I’ll take LA in regulation for 1.5 units.
