Last night’s NHL Playoff games were a disaster for me, coming up short and going 1-9 to lose 8.69 units. We got just three games tonight, let’s bounce back.
Game 3: Flyers vs. Penguins (7:00)
This is a huge game here in Philly. In Games 1 and 2 the Penguins looked horrendous, falling short of their comeback efforts to lose Game 1 at home 3-2, and then looked a bit better but didn’t generate much at all in Game 2 as they got shut out 3-0 on home ice. This is a must win for Pittsburgh on the road here or this series is completely over. Philly wins, Sid and the Pens are done for the year. I do like them to show some fight as the series shifts on the road and I’ll take the Penguins for a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet that. I considered going back to my Sid and Geno parlay, but I’ll lay off that as well. I also thought about taking young star Porter Martone, who’s been unreal, with both game winners and over a point per game since going to the NHL after Michigan State’s season ended, but I’ll stay off that as well.
Game 3: Wild vs. Stars (9:30)
This series has been fantastic through two games, tied as it shifts to Minnesota, the State of Hockey tonight for Game 3. After getting blown out in a 6-1 loss at home in Game 1, the Stars came out strong and with fantastic play in goal by Jake Oettinger, they evened up the series with a 4-2 win. I still love this series to go at least six games. I’d lean the Wild win here at home, but not enough to bet it, especially since I have a series play on the Stars. I’ll stay off the side. I like the over again here, especially at 5.5, which I’ll take for 1.5 units. I’ll go right back to my big player prop parlay here too. It’s been one player away from hitting each game and if the books keep giving me this price I only have to hit it once all series, so for half a unit I’ll parlay Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy, Quinn Hughes, Mikko Rantanen, Jason Robertson, and Wyatt Johnston to each get a point. Wyatt Johnston is way too cheap again, so I’ll also take him to get a point individually for half a unit. I’ll also jump back on Quinn Hughes to get an assist for half a unit.
Game 2: Oilers vs. Ducks (10:00)
Game 1 of this series on Monday night was a lot of fun. The Oilers got out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Ducks came back in the third, with a two goal and an assist period from Troy Terry, along with Leo Carlsson getting a goal and an assist to take a 3-2 lead. Edmonton came back though in the third, tying it up before with just 1:54 left in regulation Kasperi Kapanen ended it with his second of the game after a nice play set up by Leon Draisaitl, who had a two point night as well, making me sweat out but still cash my Oilers in regulation bet. I was impressed with how the Ducks played in the loss, not making it easy for the Oilers, and keeping Connor McDavid entirely off the scoresheet. This was the first game all season that Edmonton won without McDavid getting a point. I think McJesus comes out with a vengeance tonight after that and lights it up. I expect the Oilers to win again and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’ll also go back to the over for a unit. On the player props, I’ll take McDavid to get over 1.5 points for half a unit and Leon Draisaitl to get over 1.5 points for a unit. I considered going back to my bet on Cutter Gauthier to get a point, and also considered taking Troy Terry and Leo Carlsson on the Ducks side, but I’ll lay off all three of those guys and just stick with two of the top five players in the league here.
