I split last night’s big NHL slate, going 6-6 to lose 1.12 units. Just three games on the board tonight before a ton of hockey this weekend. Let’s win!
Sabres vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)
This is a pretty lousy matchup here. My Sabres aren’t a great team, and I think the Blue Jackets are worse, but these teams have been playing very inconsistently recently. Columbus won the first game 6-3 at home in the first game for both of these teams this season. Wasn’t great for Buffalo. I’d lean we answer back here with a win at home, but I don’t trust the Sabres enough to bet them, especially not at -170. I’d lean the over, but both teams have struggled offensively and I think the best move on this game is laying off of it completely.
Wild vs. Sharks (8:00)
Lousy mismatch in the West. The Sharks have been very disappointing in their start to the year and have been bad on both ends of the ice, while Minnesota’s one of the top teams in the West, as expected. I love the Wild to win here at home and I’ll take them in regulation for 1.5 units. I like the under as well at 6.5, expecting this one to have come in at 5.5, and I’ll take it for half a unit.
Flames vs. Ducks (8:00)
This Pacific Division matchup isn’t great. Both of these teams haven’t been all that great and just middling by. They split their first two games, each winning 4-2 on the road. With the Ducks on the second half of a back to back on the road, coming off a huge 5-4 win in Edmonton last night, even though I think Anaheim is the better team here, I’d slightly lean the Flames win this one at home. Not touching it though. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for a unit.
