Tonight the Sabres dominated at home against the Blue Jackets, taking a big 5-2 win into the weekend!
The Sabres looked good pretty quick to start this game and 6:50 into the game, Jack Quinn drove to the net and followed his own shot quickly after a zone entry, cashing in on his own rebound to get us the first goal of the game. Good start. With exactly four minutes to go in the first, Sean Monahan set up Kent Johnson to tie up the game as he was driving for a quick shot towards the net, really on one of their first real chances in the Sabres zone. With 1:50 left in the opening period, Josh Norris had a nice little drag and ripped it five hole on Jet Greaves. Solid first for the Sabres. Keep it rolling boys.
Rasmus Dahlin shot an absolute rocket in on a one timer from Peyton Krebs, finding the back up the net to make it 3-1 Sabres, 15 and a half minutes into the second. 9:46 into the second, Josh Norris got his second of the game, making it 4-1 Sabres with some good team play by Buffalo, with Zach Benson behind the net throwing it in front for a nice finish in the crease by Norris. Didn’t take much longer and with 39 seconds later, Ostlund was well covered, tossed it at the net, and it went off Josh Doan and in the net. Columbus challenged it for goaltender interference, the goal counted, 5-1 Buffalo and onto the power play. Another solid period on both ends of the ice.
The Sabres continued to be the better team through the third, but with 1:39 left in the game, Zach Werenski, who might not be a Blue Jacket come trade deadline, had a nice shot up top on the power play to make it 5-2.
FINAL: Sabres 5, Blue Jackets 2

Really excellent game for the Sabres tonight on both ends of the ice for our fourth win in the last five games. Zero complaints on either end of the ice. Really fun game, especially for the offense as we poured it on Columbus, outshooting them 37-26 and generating far more chances and getting awarded for it with the win. On the back end, we didn’t give up much. Great win and solid bounce back from that snoozefest against the Sens on Wednesday.
