Today the MLB announced the punishments that the scumbag Houston Astros received due to all of the blatant cheating with their obvious sign stealing they did on their way to their 2017 World Series win*. Note the asterisk there, cause without knowing what pitches were coming, they probably wouldn’t have won. My Yanks would’ve beat them in the ALCS. But today, after the MLB completed their investigations of the cheating incidents, the Astros got what they deserve.
In addition to manager AJ Hinch and GM Jeff Luhnow both getting suspended for a full year, the Astros were also fined $5 million and lost their first and second round picks in the 2020 and 2021 MLB drafts. Who really cares about these parts though. 5 million is nothing to an MLB team, pretty much a slap on the wrist. And yeah the first two rounds of the draft are sort of significant and hurt them a bit but the MLB draft is like a million rounds and it takes these guys like ten years to go from being drafted to putting on a MLB jersey.
Some people are saying that the Astros should be vacated of their title win, but really, what’s the point of that? Can’t go back in time. Reggie Bush still won the Heisman in 2005 and Louisville still won the 2013 National Championship in basketball, so what’s the point of vacating titles. The Astros still won the 2017 World Series and unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about it.
About an hour after the suspensions came down from the MLB, the story got even more interesting, as Astros owner Jim Crane FIRED both Hunch and Luhnow. See ya, you fucks!! Good bye, you got what you deserved.
As a diehard Yankees fan, I was thrilled by today’s news on what happened with the Astros. But the story can still keep getting better, as our biggest rivals, the Boston Red Sox may be involved as well. Alex Cora, current manager of the Sox, was on the Houston Astros staff in 2017 and very much so also involved in the cheating scandal.
It seems like smug Alex Cora is probably going to also get a year suspension for his involvement in the Astros cheating. And I for one definitely think that the Red Sox should follow the Astros lead and fire Cora too (who won another World Series in 2018 with the Sox).
So, the Houston Astros who quickly over the past 3 years became my second most hated MLB team (congrats Mets, you moved down to #3) and the Red Sox who could be my most hated franchise in all of professional sports will be faced with key hits to their organizations.
Astros, was George Springer the cheat code or was using cameras and TVs in the dugout to know what pitches were coming the cheat code?
Love Aaron Judge silently throwing shade at Altuve too.
