NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/16/22

Last night I went 5-7, losing 2.9 units on the eleven game NHL slate. Literally entire day’s loss was on the Leafs over. Everything else completely cancelled out.  Would’ve also ended up profitable 2 units if the Florida TT hit. They played good, got fucked a couple times in the 3P to come a goal short. Both losses I can’t really complain too much about though. Tonight we just have four games but this league can’t stay out of its own way and scheduled ten games for opening day of March Madness tomorrow.

Senators vs. Blue Jackets (7:30)

On Monday night’s only game, the Sens lost 5-3 at home to the Coyotes where I swept the board to win 6.1 units on my five bets for that game. That was the Sens second straight multi goal loss at home in a row against a shit team after they lost 6-3 to the Blackhawks. Ottawa’s having a pretty terrible season at 21-33-5 with only two wins in their last nine games. On the season, they’ve been pretty bad on both ends of the ice. They’ve scored an average of only 2.64 goals per game, seventh fewest in the NHL yet have allowed a tenth most in the NHL average of 3.27 goals per game. The Blue Jackets aren’t a great team either, but they’re significantly better than the Sens are. They’re coming off back to back wins against Vegas on Sunday and Minnesota on Friday and are now 30-27-3 on the season. They’ve been good offensively, averaging 3.25 goals per game, tenth most in the NHL but they have been horrible defensively and in goal, allowing a third most in the NHL average of 2.67 goals per game. In their first game this season on January 23rd, the Sens won 2-1 in Columbus. This game screams over to me, which I’m pretty sure I lost on the first time they played. I’m jumping back on it tonight with a unit on the over 6, half a unit on the 6.5 and half a unit on the 7.5. I’d also lean the Jackets win this one, which I’ll take for a unit, along with half a unit each on the regulation line and the alternate -1.5 puck line. My favorite play on this game though is the Jackets TT over 2.5, which I’ll take for 1.5 units.

Wild vs. Bruins (7:30)

It took until overtime for the Bruins to beat the Blackhawks 2-1 last night, but I’m not putting that on the B’s offense. They had 48 shots on goal and poured it on including a goal that was disallowed in the closing few minutes of the third period and that game staying that close was entirely on reigning Vezina winner Marc Andre Fleury having an incredible game in goal for the Hawks…and the Bruins STILL won. Boston’s playing awesome lately, coming into tonight on a three game win streak with a fantastic 10-1-1 record in their last twelve games to improve to 37-18-5 on the season. On the year, they’ve averaged 3 goals per game but have been fantastic defensively, allowing a fifth fewest in the NHL average of 2.65 goals per game. The Minnesota Wild are 34-20-4 with a 17-7-1 record at home but they’ve sucked lately with only four wins in their last 14 games. They’ve been good offensively all season, scoring an average of 3.67 goals per game, fourth most in the NHL. But, they’ve been horrible defensively and in goal, especially lately, allowing an eleventh most in the NHL average of 3.26 goals per game on the season. When these teams played in Boston on January 6th, the Wild got a 3-2 win but they were playing much better hockey at the time. Even on the second half of a back to back, I think the Bruins pull off another win here on the road and will take them for a unit with the price on this game at a pick em.

Flames vs. Devils (10:00)

Calgary’s the hottest team in the NHL with a 16-3-1 record in their last twelfth games but they’re coming off a 3-0 shutout loss in Colorado on Sunday night. The Flames have been a great team on both ends of the ice, scoring an average of 3.42 goals per game, sixth most in the NHL and allowing the second fewest goals in the league, an average of just 2.42 goals per game. With Dan Vladar getting the start in their game against the Avs, Jacob Markstrom’s back in goal tonight. The Devils have sucked this year at 22-33-5, coming off a 6-3 loss in Vancouver last night. They have three wins in their last five games but only seven in their last 21. Their offense is decent, scoring an average of 3 goals per game, but they’ve been terrible defensively, allowing a seventh most in the NHL average of 3.5 gaol per game. Back on October 26th in NJ, the Flames got a big 5-3 win. I’d expect similar results again tonight, especially with the Devils on the second half of a back to back. The -335 price is way too expensive for me to bet, but I’ll take the Flames in regulation for 2 units along with the over 6 in this game and the Flames TT over 3.5 for a unit each.

Kraken vs. Lightning (10:00)

The back to Stanley Cup Champion Lightning have been great again this season with a 38-15-6 record, coming off a 2-1 win in Vancouver on Sunday to end their three game losing streak. The Lightning have been great on both ends of the ice, scoring an average of 3.36 goals per game, seventh most in the NHL and they’re allowing a twelfth fewest average of 2.83 goals per game. The Kraken’s inaugural season has sucked with an 18-37-6 record coming into tonight. They’re coming off a 4-3 overtime win in Montreal on Saturday night that ended their four game losing streak with just their second win in their last 13 games. They’ve sucked on both ends of the ice. They’re scoring an average of only 2.57 goals per game, third fewest in the NHL and they’ve allowed a fourth most in the NHL average of 3.59 goals per game. In their first ever game against the Kraken, the Bolts won 3-0 at home on November 26th. I’d expect a similar score again tonight in Seattle. I don’t think the ML is worth betting on the Lightning at -278, but I’ll go with 1.5 units on the Lightning in regulation and a half unit each on the Lightning TT over 3.5 (full game) and Kraken TT under 2.5 in regulation.
