NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 5/4/22

Yesterday the remaining four series of the first round in the NHL playoffs started off. I went 4-5, losing 4.32 units, thanks to Florida letting me down and the refs letting me down in NY (I’ll get into those games tomorrow when I preview Game 2s in those series). Tonight we have the four Game 2s of the series that kicked off on Monday. Let’s crush these!

Game 2: Hurricanes vs. Bruins (7:00)

The score in Game 1 of this series with the Canes winning 5-1 didn’t really indicate how close of a game it actually was. That game started scoreless for the first 36:28 of the game and 2-1 until the Hurricanes scored 3 goals in the third period. I ended up pushing my under 6 in that game (thankfully I bought it up from 5.5) which I still think was the right play and it still looked like a winner till the last few minutes of that game. Even though the scoreboard looks like Carolina blew out the Bruins, Boston actually outshot the Canes 36-25. I still like my bet for them to win this series in six or seven games and a losing a series doesn’t become an issue till you lose at home. I’d slightly lean Carolina wins Game 2 at home tonight but wouldn’t bet on either side and will just let my small series bet and future on the B’s ride tonight. I’ll jump back on the alternate under 6 again tonight for a unit.

Game 2: Maple Leafs vs. Lightning (7:30)

I didn’t expect the Leafs to blow out the Bolts at all like they did on Monday night in Game 1 where they dominated every facet of the game on their way to a 5-0 shutout win. That was a very physical battle of a game with 113 total penalty minutes. I still think the Lightning are the better team in this series and that they can only go up from that game. A series doesn’t start till you lose on home ice. Andrei Vasilevskiy is still one of the best goalies in the NHL and hasn’t lost back to back playoff games in over 2 years. I’ll go right back to the Lighting for a unit and the over 6 in this game for a unit. The Leafs did their part for the over on Monday and I don’t expect Jack Campbell to put up another shutout performance again tonight like he did in Game 1 and along with the Lightning ML and the game over, I’ll go back to the Bolts TT over 3 for a unit.

Game 2: Wild vs. Blues (9:30)

Game 1 in this series was pathetic for the Wild with their fantastic offense getting shut down in a 4-0 shutout at home and David Perron scoring a hat trick against them. I don’t see that happening again tonight. Minnesota’s a good enough team that they’ll make the adjustments to win tonight at home in a crucial must win to even the series before heading to St. Louis. The Wild outshot the Blues 37-31 in Game 1 and had much better chances that they just couldn’t put past Ville Husso. Besides lighting the lamp, they were the better team 5 on 5, where they lead 44-17 in shot attempts. The main thing that killed the Wild in Game 1 was special teams, giving up two of Perron’s goals on the penalty kill and going 0-6 on the power play. This is a must win for the Wild and I have faith that one of the best teams in the NHL this season gets a win at home in the biggest game of their season. I’ll take the Wild ML for 1.5 units. Let’s keep extending this series!

Game 2: Oilers vs. Kings (10:00)

The LA Kings never trailed in Game 1 on Monday as they upset the Oilers 4-3 in Edmonton in what was easily the most entertaining game that night. Tonight’s a must win for the Oilers. If they lose again tonight at home again going back to LA, they’re fucked and will be looking at another upset getting bounced in the first round. The Oilers are the significantly better team here and I like them to even up the series at home in a must win game for them in Game 2. I don’t think its worth laying the -205 on the money and I’ll take the Oilers in regulation for 2 units. I’ll also add in the over 6 for half a unit.

Bonus: Let’s sweep the board!! I’m also adding a half unit parlay on: Lightning +1.5 & Lightning/Leafs over 5.5 & Bruins/Hurricanes under 6.5 & Wild ML & Oilers ML & Oilers/Kings over 5.5
