I had a nice bounce back night on the NHL yesterday, going 3-1 on the small slate to win 2.9 units. Today we have a ton of day games with almost every team in action for a 14 game slate. Let’s crush it!
Since there’s so many games and so many of them are early, I’m keeping the writeups on these condensed today. If you want records and stats, check ESPN or NHL.com.
Red Wings vs. Canucks (12:00)
From a matchup perspective, this is a pretty shitty game and the side on it is pretty much a coin flip to me. I like the over though, which I’ll take for a unit to kick off the day.
Sabres vs. Flames (12:30)
This should be a fun game as the Sabres return from a long All Star break. I like my boys to get a win at home here and its even better that they’re underdogs. I’ll take the Sabres and the over for a unit each.
Canadiens vs. Islanders (12:30)
This is a pretty boring matchup to me but from a betting perspective I like two plays on this game. I’ll take the under for a unit and the Isles in regulation for half a unit.
Senators vs. Oilers (12:30)
I like the Oilers to stay hot here. I’ll take the Oilers ML, the over and the Oilers TT over 3.5 for a unit each.
Flyers vs. Predators (12:30)
I’d expect the Preds to get a win here on the road in a low scoring game. I’ll take Nashville and the under for half a unit each.
Stars vs. Lightning (1:00)
This should be an awesome game between two fantastic teams that played each other in the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals. I’d lean the Lightning win on the road and the over but not enough to bet on either, so I will lay off this game completely.
Bruins vs. Capitals (3:30)
I like the Bruins to win here at home in their return from the All-Star break. I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the over as well but not enough to bet it.
Panthers vs. Avalanche (6:00)
This should be a fun game. I’d slightly lean the Avs and the over in this one but not enough to bet on either. I feel like the team that dictates the pace of play wins. If its a high scoring game, Panthers win at home. If its a low scoring grind, Avs win. I’ll stay off this game completely.
Maple Leafs vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)
These teams just played last night and the Leafs easily cashed my bet with a 3-0 shutout win on the road in Columbus. I’d expect a very similar result tonight. The prices on this game are way more expensive tonight with them at home but I’ll take the Leafs puck line for a unit.
Hurricanes vs. Rangers (7:00)
This is an awesome matchup that I broke down in depth with my article on StatSalt. As I said in that article, I like the Canes to win at home, especially with the Rangers in the second half of a back to back. I’ll take Carolina in regulation along with the alternate under 6.5 in this game for half a unit each.
Blues vs. Coyotes (8:00)
This game sucks between two struggling teams. I wrote an article on StatSalt breaking it down in depth. I said in that article I’d lean the Blues and the over in this matchup but not enough to actually bet on either, so I’ll skip this game completely.
Wild vs. Devils (8:00)
This is an interesting cross conference game. I broke this one down in depth for my article on StatSalt as well. I like the Devils to win a low scoring game here and will take them for half a unit as a dog on the road along with the under for half a unit.
Jets vs. Blackhawks (10:00)
This is the biggest mismatch on tonight’s slate. Like I said when I broke this game down in depth on StatSalt, I expect a blowout win for the Jets at home tonight. I’ll take the Jets puck line for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under but not enough to bet it.
Kings vs. Penguins (10:30)
This is a really interesting matchup to close out the night. I’d slightly lean the Kings win at home and the over but not enough to bet on either. I’ll lay off this game.
