Last night with a boring game through the first two periods, the Sabres came back to beat the Wild 3-2 at home in overtime for a solid win.
Through the first ten minutes of this game, what a snoozefest of a first period with neither team generating anything. At least I have sick seats to watch us lose in tonight. Scoreless after one, and it didn’t look great.
The Sabres got their first few decent looks of the game and from the outside of the circle on the power play with a stupid penalty by Peyton Krebs, Danila Yurov got a puck to deflect in to get there first goal of the game with 6:07 left in the second. Not long later, with 4:22 left in the second, on really two bad no calls on one play up the ice, Maxim Shabanov took a drop pass in transition from Quinn Hughes on a play that should’ve already been blown dead made it 2-0 Minny.
3:55 into the third period, we finally got on the board after sustaining pressure in the Minnesota zone finishing with Owen Power throwing it to the crease, off Oslund to go into the net to make it 2-1. We didn’t look great and with 10:22, Peyton Krebs threw it right in the slot for Tage Thompson to fire home and make it a new game. Great play by Krebs to set that up. Solid third period and we at least get the loser point going to overtime.
With 37.4 seconds left in overtime after some nice chances, we got the win on a beautiful shot by Owen Power setup up by a great pass from Jiri Kulich we win. Huge win against a win tonight.
FINAL: Sabres 3, Wild 2 (OT)

This wasn’t a great game through two periods, honestly boring as hell without many great chances for either team, but hey, but is it a really good comeback win against a good team. We’ll take it. I thought the Sabres looked solid in the third period and overtime was great to watch.
