The Sabres put in a pretty pathetic effort tonight, getting shut out 4-0 at home to the Dallas Stars. We’re gonna be bad this year.
Both teams had a couple solid chances early in the game and we looked like the better team, generating more offense than Dallas, but on a two on one 9:03 into the game, Jason Robertson ripped it short side on UPL to put the Stars up 1-0. We’re crumbling a bit now on the back end. The Stars were definitely the better team through a period, but it wasn’t bad for the Sabres hanging in there with Dallas. Gotta come out strong and kill off this penalty to start the second period.
Solid kill to start the second, and right after that we go to a power play of our own. Let’s capitalize to tie this up, which we did not, not even really generating anything on the power play. We looked like the better team through the start of the second, but a shot from Sam Steel from up top bounced five hole on Luukkonen, making it 2-0 Stars with 10:24 left in the second period. Mikko Rantanen made it 3-0 Dallas with 6:03 left, tapping in a backhand from a puck that bounced off the board into the empty net. Bad. This game is bad. We suck. Roope Hintz got right in the slot, getting a pass from Wyatt Johnston for a quick shot on the power play to take a 4-0 lead with 4:26 to go in the second. God, we’re gonna suck this year. This is going to be quite the bad season.
We looked good generating scoring chances in the third period, but at that point, it didn’t matter and we still couldn’t capitalize to score.

God we’re bad. At least I bet against the Sabres tonight. I thought the offense had some decent looks, as we actually outshot Dallas 4-0, but god this was a bad game. Our defense looked like shit, UPL sucks. The whole team sucks. Ain’t gonna be a good season.
