NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 5/1/26

Great night for me on last night’s NHL Playoffs, going 10-5 to win 5.8 units. Let’s crush it again on tonight’s three Game 6s to possibly close out the first round!!

Game 6: Canadiens vs. Lightning (7:00)

This series has been awesome and the Habs now have the chance to close out this series and advance to the second round with a win at home tonight, leading the series 3-2. Every single game has been tight, with the first three going to overtime and the Lightning tying up the series in Game 4 late in the third period to win 3-2 on Brandon Hagel’s second goal in a row with less than five minutes left in regulation. Game 5 was close as well in Tampa, with the Canadiens winning 3-2 on the road on Alex Texier’s goal early in the third period, in a game they were outshot 40-24. I’d slightly lean the Lightning tie this series up again with a win on the road to take this series back to Tampa for Game 7 on Sunday, but this game is a complete toss up to me. I’ll lay off the side. I’d slightly lean the under, which has hit in four of the five games in this series, but don’t like it enough to bet it, especially in an elimination game since if Tampa’s down in the third, they’ll have to play aggressively with the empty net. I’ll lay off it. I’ll just stick with player props in this one. I’ll parlay Nikita Kucherov, Jake Guentzel, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Brandon Hagel and Juraj Slafkovsky to each get a point for half a unit, and I’ll individually take Slafkovsky to get over 0.5 point for half a unit since that’s too cheap to lay off of at -145.

Game 6: Bruins vs. Sabres (7:30)

I’m so nervous about this game. My Sabres have their second chance here to close out this series and advance to the second round for the first time since 2008 with a win on the road after we couldn’t end it in Game 5 at home on Tuesday night. This series has been a roller coaster through these first five games. I thought we were lucky to win Game 1 with a spectacular comeback effort, then got killed at home in a 4-2 loss in Game 2 that I thought was worse than the score showed. I was quite nervous heading into Game 3 in Boston, but we played great, winning 3-1 to take home ice back in the series, then we dominated Game 4 on the road on Sunday, blowing out the Bruins 6-1 to put them on the brink of elimination. In Game 5 on Tuesday night, I thought we played well in the tightest game of the series, with Rasmus Dahlin scoring early for the Sabres in the first period, finally breaking the over a month drought of scoring on the power play, but the Bruins played with more desperation, with Jeremy Swayman playing fantastic in goal in a bounce back effort and David Pastrnak getting off on a breakaway in overtime to win it 2-1 for Boston and extend the series. I need Buffalo to win this game tonight, because the this goes to Game 7, I feel like with the history of this franchise and this city, we’re gonna blow it at home in heartbreaking fashion. HAVE TO win tonight. I believe in my boys, and already will win 1.5 units on my series bet if we close it out, and I’ll double down on my team for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it. I considered parlaying Tage Thompson, David Pastrnak, and Alex Tuch to each get a point, but the price isn’t worth it at only +166. I wanted to bet Payton Krebs to get a point, but it isn’t available on any of my books, so I’ll just stick with the Sabres moneyline. LET’S GO BUFFALO!!!

Game 6: Mammoth vs. Golden Knights (10:00)

This series in the West has been great and the Golden Knights can close this out and advance to a second round matchup against the Ducks with a win tonight or if it goes to Game 7 at home. After splitting the first two games in Vegas to take home ice in the series, the Mammoth won 4-2 at home in Game 3, getting out to a 4-0 lead early and riding that with a fantastic 30 save night for Karel Vejmelka, with an impressive .938 save percentage as Utah got outshot 32-12. The Golden Knights answered back in Game 5, blowing an early 3-0 lead with four straight goals for the Mammoth at home, then winning it late, with just 52 seconds left in the first overtime with one of the original misfits, Shea Theodore scoring the game winner to tie the series with a 5-4 win on the road for Vegas. Game 6 on Wednesday night was spectacular, with teams trading goals all game. The Mammoth took a 4-3 lead with two goals in a row in the third period, but Vegas tied it up to force overtime with Pavel Dorofeyev’s hat trick goal with just 53 seconds left in regulation. After a scoreless overtime period, Brett Howden ended the game, getting the Knights a 5-4 win at home in double overtime, shorthanded, set up by a good play on the wall by Mitch Marner. I like the Knights to end this series on the road tonight. I already have 1.5 units on them to win the series, and I’ll double down on them for half a unit tonight. I also like the over at 5.5, which I’ll take for a unit and I’ll go back to my parlay on Jack Eichel, Mark Store, and Mitch Marner to each get a point as well for half a unit.
